We had all planned on doing a Whale Watch tour in Depoe Bay and spending the rest of the day on the beach. Sophia and Ryan were already staying in a little beach condo in Lincoln City so we got up bright and early and made the 1.5 hour drive to see some whales!
The boat was a smaller boat and the ocean was pretty wavy (shocker I know) resulting in some serious motion sickness. I know I am prone to motion sickness so I tried to be prepared and took anti nausea medication which usually works, but for some reason it just did not cut it. Ughhh. Luckily I managed to see a few gray whales at the beginning but spent the rest of the time snuggling Clara unable to even move. Michael and Olivia really enjoyed it until Michael got sick at the very end as well.
All in all it was a success and we did see quite a few gray whales, however I doubt we'll be back :)
After the tour we decided to drive to Newport and have some lunch. We had heard there was a spot where you could see a lot of sea lions.
Not only did we find it but we were able to eat some fish and chips at a little seafood place right above them!
At first this was a complete blast but after an hour of constant barking it got a little annoying.
We did however get quite a few laughs when they would get a little aggressive and push each other in!
Goodness the more we explore this place we call home the more and more I fall in love.
After lunch we drove back to Lincoln City to spend some time playing at the beach.
It was a beautiful day and we all had a wonderful time.
Here's a short preview of the sounds that took place during lunch.
We had a lovely few days with Ryan and Sophia and are so glad they were able to come visit.
It's always hard to say goodbye but here's to hoping they'll be back!
