Olivia Alexandra Mickelson

Olivia Alexandra Mickelson was born on September 30, 2010 weighing 5 pounds 2 ounces and was 17.5 inches long. She was very healthy and did not spend any time in the NICU which was a relief to both of us. We had a relaxing 2 days in the hospital and I never let her leave my sight. It was an incredible day that I am sure neither Michael and I will ever forget. Olivia is doing wonderful and we are loving every second of being her mom and dad!

Her first moments
Michael stayed by her the whole the whole time. It was so cute to watch.

Michael's 2nd and 3rd loves....

A couple weeks ago I think Michael experienced one of the happiest days of his life. Ever since I met him he has always talked about how much he wanted a new set of golf clubs. Well obviously that's a little pricey and a kind of out of the question purchase for newlyweds. Anyway Michael's parents decided that they would buy him any set of irons he wanted. His reaction and face were priceless upon finding this out. He immediately began searching online and telling me all about the different brands which I obviously didn't get at all. So, one Saturday he decided that he would go get fitted for them and actually ended up coming home having ordered the "perfect" set! Now the only downside to all this was that since he is left handed he would have to wait up to 2 weeks for his clubs to come in. In most people's eyes 2 weeks isn't too long...but in Michael's I'm pretty sure it felt like 2 years especially since it ended up being 2 weeks and 2 days. Once it had been 1 1/2 weeks he would call the store every day checking on the status of his clubs. In fact, he even made me call a few times. Well they finally did come in and I went with him to pick them up. He was so excited to show them to me even though to me a golf club is pretty much like a metal pole. We stopped at the driving range on the way home so that he could try them out. He hit a lot further than he did with his old clubs! I just have to say that even though those golf clubs don't mean anything to me, it made me so happy to watch him look at them with his adorable smile and talk endlessly about how much better they were than his old ones.

His golf clubs! (The ones with the red covers are all his new irons)

I have to admit I think the red is really cool!

I'm not going to lie, he is pretty sexy when he swings a golf club:)

Alright well the season has finally come again for college football and Michael could not be any more excited to cheer his buckeyes to another national championship. Michael begins getting dressed up for the games hours before they even start. I often have to remind him that the game isn't for 3 or 4 more hours. He is quite in to their quarterback Terrelle Pryor and is constantly talking about what a "physical speciman" he is. I have to say that I could have cared less about Ohio State or any other football team before I met Michael, but now I can honestly say I becoming quite the fan of them. I think we are in for an exciting season of college football!

The nursery...

Here are a bunch of pictures of Olivia's room! The first 3 are pictures of her stuff in Michael and I's room since that is where she will be sleeping for the first few months!

These are all the nightgowns I made for her!

Her little room!

These are her hair clips and bonnets!

Where we keep all of her blankets

I love her bedding...the best part of it besides the cuteness is that it was only $70!

It's crazy that I have been pregnant for 36 weeks now. I am so ready for her to be here so that I can put her in her cute room and dress her up all pretty:)

Our baby girl....!

So at my last appointment we found out that I am dilated to a 3 now and 80% effaced. So pretty much she could come tomorrow or she could come on her due date! It is driving me a bit crazy though because I just want to know what day she will make her entrance so that I can have everything ready. Anyway, at my appointment I was measuring a little bit small so my doctor suggested I go over to the hospital and have an ultrasound just to check up on her size and everything else. I have to admit I was a little excited about this because I love seeing our little girl. It makes all so much more real. So today I went in and they measured all of her little parts. It turns out that she weighs about 5 pounds which is a little small for her age but not really a big deal. Well this is the part that I will try to explain but I don't think I fully get it. Anyway, her stomach is measuring a little small (27th) percentile. This means that she is no longer relying on me for food anymore. She is relying more on her little liver. Now this is a good thing that babies have to do but usually not until they are born. Well since baby Olivia has decided that she would like to feed herself it may cause her growth to slow down. So, I have to get non-stress tests every week and an ultrasound every two weeks until she is born. If on the non-stress test she is showing signs of stress or if on the ultrasound her stomach continues to measure small or gets to about the 10th percentile, they will just take the baby. So we will see what happens. 5 pounds is so tiny so we are hoping she stays in there longer to avoid being in the NICU.

The first 3 pictures of just normal ultrasound pictures but because she was in such a good position they were able to get some really cool 3 D pictures of her! The 3D pictures are really blown up and they had to push kind of hard on her face to get some of them but she is still adorable! And of course seeing it on the machine was a lot better. I could not believe how tiny and cute she was. She was moving a lot during the ultrasound and kicking the little knob thing so they had to keep repositioning it. And then she got the hiccups which was adorable. I already love her so much and can hardly wait to meet her! Michael has shown a lot of interest in the pictures and asks to see them all the time. It's hard to believe that she is our little girl and will be with us very soon.

This picture has gotten a few laughs from those who have seen it! Her lips and nose look a little large to say the least but I think it is just the picture because she didn't look like that when I was watching. But we will see!

It's a.......... Baby Shower!!

My aunt Annabelle and best friend were sweet enough to throw Olivia and I a baby shower! It was seriously so much fun! Most of my friends were able to be there and then of course my mom's side of the family (minus my sweet aunt Hilary who lives in San Francisco). The decorations were stunning, the pastries were amazing, and the games were a blast! Leslie was in charge of the games and since they were so wonderful, I am going to have to share what they were.
1) When everyone came in they were given some yarn to use to guess how big I was around the middle! My friend Jessica won that one!
2) 4 volunteers (who didn't know what they were getting into haha) had to have a race to see who could eat all the baby food out of their jar first! Congratulations to Paige on that one!
3) Everyone was separated into groups of 3 and had to make up nursery rhymes about baby Olivia. I couldn't pick which one I liked best since they were all so cute so there was no winner in this game. So here are 2 of them...I think one of them accidentally got thrown away:(
* to the rhyme Hey Diddle Diddle
"Hey Bella Bella
A girl and a fella
Had a love that was over the moon,
The cute little couple fell to see
Such a site of little
baby Olivia to come very soon.

Little Olivia is not a pig
She is just not very big

Little Olivia can do a jig
and little Olivia can eat a fig

Little Olivia wears a wig
And little Olivia is in a gig

Although little Olivia is not very big
Little Olivia is not a pig!!

4) The next game we played was a baby animal quiz. We were given a list of animals and had a few minutes to guess what the baby animal of that particular animal was called. For example, did you know that a baby platypus is called a puggle? I didn't but I thought it was cute! My aunt Annabelle won this one!
5) In this game we sat in a circle and every person had three seconds to come up with a baby name for each letter of the alphabet and if you couldn't do it you were out. So we started with my friend Juli who quickly called out Anna and then next was my aunt Tiffany who looked extremely confused haha. So she paused and you could tell she was frantically trying to think of a name that started with a b but couldn't so she randomly called out beet!! Haha and everyone busted out laughing. (This is kind of a story that is funnier if you had actually been there but I just want to always remember it.)
Anyway, below are a bunch of pictures of the shower!

This was my "throne."

My aunt Annabelle knows me all to well. Anyway she gave Michael and I this huge jar full of all kinds of candy to get us through the weeks to come!

The little gifts Leslie bought for those who won the games!

The baby food eating contest!

Olivia got so many cute things that were much needed. Everyone was so sweet!

My best friends!
It was so fun to have all my friends there and my sweet aunts. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by so many people who love and care about me. I couldn't ask for a better family or for better friends and I am so excited for our baby girl to meet all these special people closest to me!

Just a few exciting things!

1) Baby Olivia remains in my womb. I am now 33 weeks and the doctor says he would like us to make it until at least 34, so 1 more week! Although I do think it would be funny if I ended up carrying her full term after all this. Anyway, I am sure she is a sweet little one and I already love her to death. However, there are a few times when I find myself not so fond, like when she kicks my ribs so hard it feels like they might pop out, or when she decides that she is going to sleep snug as a bug all day and then start moving like crazy at 10:00 at night when I am SO ready to go to sleep. Of course my boy shows no sympathy at all for me, he will just laugh his cute little laugh and say, "it's not my fault Eve partook of the fruit." Anyway, her little room is practically done. I love just going in there and peeking around. It just makes me so excited! I'll post pictures soon.

2) I finally got a new camera! Yay!

3) My boy LOVES (understatement by the way) ninja turtles. He just bought 2 movies the other day and always asks if we can watch them. I gave in one time and did. Let's just say it was an interesting movie. But at the American Fork Movie Theatre they have this ninja turtles arcade game. He loves it. He always begs to just stop by so he can play a few games. He always comes out a little frustrated because apparently they always send out too many fighters and he dies. So he is looking forward to his brother Steven coming down here for school in the winter so that they can conquer the game together:) Oh how I love this boy!

4) As true Ohio State Buckeye fans (well mostly Michael, but I do like them too) we decided it was important for our little one to have a little outfit to wear during all the games. So we bought this. Isn't it cute?! Michael is excited to dress her up and watch all the games with her. She'll probably sleep most of the time so it will be interesting to see how she reacts to her dad's loud screams and shouts every 10 seconds.
5) Sadly, I didn't get a picture of Michael on his first day of school. But he looked so handsome! He started on Monday, and is taking 5 classes. 4 Spanish, The picture below is a bit of an exaggeration of all the books Michael has had to buy, but not really. I think most of his semester will be spent reading!
6) We are both SO excited for Michael's dad and brother and sister to come down this weekend. Michael's dad bought us all tickets for the BYU/Washington game. It will be an amazing weekend!
